Australia are going to miss the services of senior players – Shane Watson and Brett Lee for the fifth and final ODI at Old Trafford in Manchester. The duo had sustained calf injuries during the Fourth ODI at Chester-le-Street. Australia have already lost the ODI Series 0-3. The final match of the series is going to be played tomorrow.

Lanky left-arm quick Mitchell Starc, who has been playing for Yorkshire in the Friends Life t20, has been given as SOS to join the Australia Squad to cover for the two injured players.

Both Watson and Lee are expected to have an early return to home to begin their injury recovery. The two cricketers will fight against time to regain fitness ahead of the Pakistan Series in UAE during the month of August.

During the fourth ODI at Durham, Shane Watson first left the field with a left calf muscle strain having bowled one over. Brett Lee followed him no time with a right calf muscle strain midway through his 3rd over. Both Watson and Lee didn’t return back to the field to leave Michael Clarke two bowlers short as Australia failed to defend a total of 200.
