DLF IPL 2012: Kings XI Punjab lost to Rajasthan Royals by 43 runs in Match 48 at PCA Stadium, Mohali

Rajasthan Royals crushed hosts Kings XI Punjab by a massive margin of 43 runs at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Batting first, the Royals posted an impressive 177 for 6 despite none of its batsmen going onto score a fifty. In reply, Kings XI Punjab lost the plot early to end up with a weak 134 for 8.

The Rajasthan Royals saw four meaningful contributions from – Rahul Dravid (46 from 39 balls with 8 fours), Shane Watson (36 from 17 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes), Ashok Menaria (34 from 27 balls with a four and 2 sixes) and Brad Hodge (36 from 23 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes). Ryan Harris took 4 for 34 besides taking a good catch for the Kings XI Punjab.

In their run chase, Kings XI was reduced to 59 for 4 in 8.3 overs having lost the big wickets of David Hussey and Shaun Marsh (34 from 27 balls with 5 fours and a six). It was the Australian pair of Shane Watson (4-1-22-2) and Shaun Tait (4-0-18-2) who fired Rajasthan Royals to a big win. Johan Botha played his part as well with 2 for 21 in 4 overs.

Toss and Teams: Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first against hosts Kings XI Punjab at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. The Royals have made three changes by replacing Owais Shah, Brad Hogg and Shreevats Goswami with Johan Botha, Shaun Tait and Dishant Yagnik. Kings XI have made one change with Gurkeerat Singh coming in for Paras Dogra.
