Shane Watson smashed an unbeaten 124 from 71 balls, with the aid of 10 fours and 6 sixes in the third T20 against India at Sydney which, unfortunately, the Australians went on to lose. This is now the second highest score in T20 internationals. Here’s a look at the top ten highest scores in T20 internationals.

Aaron Finch (156): Finch blasted 156 from 63 balls against England at Southampton on August 29, 2013. Finch hit 11 fours and 14 sixes in his knock as Australia posted a huge 248 for 6, and won the contest by 39 runs.

Brendon McCullum (123): The New Zealand captain hit 123 in 58 balls against Bangladesh at Pallekele on September 21, 2012. The Kiwis posted 191 in this game, which was part of the T20 World Cup. McCullum hit 11 fours and 7 sixes as the Kiwis won by 59 runs.

Faf du Plessis (119): The South African batsman hit 119 from 56 balls against West Indies at Johannesburg on January 11, 2015. Du Plessis hit 11 fours and 5 sixes in his knock as the Proteas posted 231, but lost the match by four wickets.

Mohammad Shahzad (118*): The Afghanistan talent smashed 118 not out from 67 balls against Zimbabwe at Sharjah on January 10, 2016. He hit 10 fours and 8 sixes as Afghanistan posted 215 and won the contest by 81 runs.

Richard Levi (117*): The South African blasted an unbeaten 117 from merely 51 balls against New Zealand at Hamilton on February 19, 2012. Levi hit 5 fours and 13 sixes as the Proteas chased down 174 with ease.

Chris Gayle (117): The maverick West Indian had to be part of the list. Gayle blitzed 117 from 57 balls against the South Africans at Johannesburg on September 11, 2007, in what was the inaugural match of the 2007 World T20. Gayle hit 7 fours and 10 sixes in his knock as Windies posted 205, but lost by eight wickets.

Brendon McCullum (116*): The Kiwi skipper makes an entry again. His unbeaten 116 from 56 balls came against Australia at Christchurch on February 28, 2010. McCullum hit 12 fours and 8 sixes as the Kiwis posted 214. Australia equalled the score before New Zealand won the eliminator.

Alex Hales (116*): The England T20 opener made this score off 64 balls against Sri Lanka at Chittagong on March 27, 2014 during the World T20 competition. Hales’ innings featured 11 fours and 6 sixes, which was instrumental in England chasing down a tough target of 190.

Morne van Wyk (114*): The South African is a surprise entry in the list at number 10. His knock came against West Indies at Durban on January 14, 2015. Van Wyk hit 9 fours and 7 sixes in his 70-ball knock, which helped South Africa post 195, and clinch the match by 69 runs.
