Bengal’s Anustup Majumdar, coming in at no.7 scored a superb unbeaten century to help East Zone finish at 343 in reply to West Zone’s first innings total of 314. Majumdar scored 102* in 147 balls with 12 fours and a six to help his side to the crucial first innings lead although not a big one. By the close of play on Day 3 at Valsad, West Zone are tottering along at 131 for 5 in 30 overs after yet another top order failure. Abu Nechim with three wickets and Basant Mohanty with two wickets have put West Zone under severe pressure as they lead by just 102 runs only at the close of play on Day 3.
